Some crucial info...

Here is some crucial info both in my leaflet and typed out.

About me

My name is Yasmina O'Sullivan and I am a sixth-form student from Oxford. I am currently studying the International Baccalaureate and I plan to study Politics and International Relations at university.

I am fascinated with international affairs and the environment, so taking this opportunity to explore an entirely different region of the world would be an incredible experience. This opportunity will be invaluable in understanding the development of emerging economies.

After undergoing a selection course for Project Trust on the Hebridean Isle of Coll I was fortunate enough to be selected for my first choice project: teaching English to children in India.

India is the second most populous country in the world and has the fifth fastest growing economy. Yet 20% of its population lives in extreme poverty. The government has made great efforts to improve education, recognizing its importance in order to ensure future development.

Project Trust has been running educational projects in India for many years. As such, they currently have 7 projects established across the country. I have not yet been assigned to a location but I will be teaching English to Primary or Secondary school students. I will be going from January to August 2018.

In order to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity, I must raise £5500
To achieve this I have organized several fundraising events and services I will provide, including:
  • Indian Themed Dinner Party
  • Car Boot Sale
  • Summer Party and Raffle
  • Service providing conversions of VHS tapes to digital files and more.
I have promised to send newsletters to my donors on my journey fundraising and in India.

Where does the money go?

The diagram shows how Project Trust uses the money it receives from fundraising.

Project Trust

Project Trust is an educational charity, which sends over 200 young volunteers to over 20 countries each year. Project Trust aims to provide each volunteer with an educational experience working with people in communities with very different cultures than those in which we grow up. Project Trust provides extensive support to volunteers while overseas.
